Description
Nicaragua is known for its high biodiversity. In an effort to educate people about the richness of Nicaragua’s flora and fauna, the Nicaraguan government, together with an organization from Spain, set up the Centro de Iniciativa Medio Ambiental (CIMAC).
The project started with reforesting an area of about one hectare, in the southern part of the colonial city León. Traditionally, the Pacific lowlands of Nicaragua are not famous for their high biodiversity. The small area of CIMAC, however, houses four different types of forest that can be found throughout Nicaragua.
