One of the most practical ways of knowing the different spots that Miraflor Natural Reserve has to offer is by doing a horseback ride. The reserve offers visitors the opportunity to develop this activity and discover the wonders of a Northern Nicaraguan rainforest.
Visitor will observe, joined by an expert, some of the 350 species of birds and different Orchids of the area. Besides visiting a great number of waterfalls and coffee plantations, you will also learn about the flora and fauna of this region.
The cost of the trip is divided depending on the services that the visitor request. For example, the price per horse is approximately US$10 per day. However, the costs increases if the visitor wishes to hire a bilingual guide or would like a tour guide with a specialist in birds or orchids; these costs vary from US$15 to US$25.
Getting There
Getting to: Miraflor Natural Reserve
When visiting Miraflor be sure to make a reservation through the lodgings and hotels of the area. There you can arrange guides and horses as well. The gravel road to Miraflor is bumpy and gets dusty during the dry season. A high clearance car is recommended. The park is located 32 kilometers from Estelí, and it will take around 45 minutes in your own car.
Another option is taking one of the buses that go there. The bus schedule is 6:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:45 Pm from Cotran Norte to Yalí, Miraflor. This will take an hour and a half.
