Description
Maderas is one of the most appealing beaches for surf lovers, since here is where they can find good waves to practice this sport. In addition, you can find some lodging options in the area. When walking to whichever side of the beach, visitors will find rock formations and tree lines with the national flower: Sacuanjoche.
The left side of the beach, which is near to Majagual, also has its charm. It is rarely visited and has a few private properties. On the other side, public infrastructure is almost nonexistent. There are a couple of places to stay and some diners on the coast, who have been established due to the demand of visitors. Tourists can find other lodging facilities behind the beach, but it is necessary to walk a bit.
It is worth mentioning that there is a camping area on the left side of the beach, where one can buy food. Here, there are various well-equipped houses in the middle of a dry tropical forest.
Surf and fishing
Practical information: Have in mind that the road to get here is unpaved. So, getting there during the winter might be complicated. We recommend to travel on a high clearance vehicle.
Getting There
Private transportation: You can get here from the town of San Juan del Sur in about 25 minutes after taking a road to the "Pepesca". Follow the signs and ask if necessary.
Public transportation: It is not possible to do this. What we recommend is to take a cab in the municipal market of San Juan del Sur.
There is also a sea transportation option available but irregular in San Juan del Sur to reach many beaches in the area. Ask the local people about this option.

This is fabulous beach and now has a restaurant on site which is another location of the Barrio restaurant in San Juan del Sur. They have many tables under the trees, or you can rest on large cushioned lounges or several hammocks. Lovely!
