Arroba de Oro Contest: ViaNica.com Best Country Image

ViaNica.com | Dec 14, 2006

Yesterday night, December 13, the Nicaraguan ‘Arroba de Oro’ award ceremony took place during which this website, www.vianica.com, won the first place in the category ‘Best Country Image’.

The contest started in September of this year and from that moment on several selection rounds took place including evaluation by international judges. A total of 205 websites registered in 14 different categories. During the evaluation process the number of candidates was narrowed down to a group of websites presented as the best websites of the country.

The ceremony took place in the InterContinental Metrocentro hotel in Managua, and it was attended by the nominees, special guests, the organizers, and the media.

This was the first year that this contest took place in Nicaragua, and according to the organizers the event will be repeated every year from now on. The ultimate winner of the Arroba de Oro event was the website of the hotel Punta Teonoste, located along the Pacific coast in Tola, Rivas.

In the category ‘Best Country Image’ ViaNica.com ultimately competed against three other final nominees – all of governmental institutions – including the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR), the Nicaraguan Consulate in Miami (U.S.), and the investment promotion agency ProNicaragua.

The team of ViaNica.com thanks its visitors and all other people who have supported us, encouraging us to move forward towards our goal of building a website that is ‘the tourism image of Nicaragua in front of the world’.
