Yesterday night, during the official award ceremony of the Arroba de Oro 2007 that took place in Managua, ViaNica.com (which is the website you are currently visiting) not only won the first prize in the category of Best Tourism Website, but we also were awarded the overall first prize in this year's edition.

The Arroba de Oro is a national award that is installed in nine countries in the Americas, developed by 'América Interactiva' and other counterparty companies in every country like La Prensa in Nicaragua. Its objective, according to the introductory paragraph of their website, is to provide incentives to the "development of the internet industry by awarding the best websites".

The awards were first given in Nicaragua in 2006, and in this first edition ViaNica.com was already given an award as Best Country Image. One year later this Nicaraguan tourism portal won the Tourism category as well as the overall prize.

The winning websites are, according to the organizers, selected after a professional evaluation by international experts, supervised by a renowned auditing firm. To learn more about the award, visit the website www.arrobadeoro.com.

We, the team of ViaNica.com, would like to take advantage of this message to thank all people who participated in the event by voting in the first round, and we furthermore want to thank the many people who have collaborated with our website during the three years of its existence. We are sincerely grateful for all your help!
