Ninth International Guitar Festival of Nicaragua

Renowned guitarists from Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua will perform together in a series of free concerts for Flamenco, Jazz, Classic and Nicaraguan music lovers during the Ninth International Guitar Festival of Nicaragua. The slogan of it is "Corazón de América" (The heart of America), which is allusive to the position of the country within the American continent.

According to the information given by Julio Vásquez, Nicaraguan guitarist and founder of the event, the inauguration will be held today, April 20 at 3:00 pm, at the Salomón de la Selva Auditorium of the National Engineering University (UNI), located in the city of Managua. In addition, there will be two other performances today, in the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI) and at the Camilo Zapata Communal Longhouse, in Colonia Nicarao, at 5:00 and 7:00 pm respectively.

The concerts will not only be held in the capital. The guitarists will also perform, on Thursday, April 22, at Casa de los Tres Mundos (Granada). Two days later, the performances will move to Northern Nicaragua. There will be an acoustic concert at the Culture House of Ocotal (Nueva Segovia) on Saturday 24 and another one at the mayorship of Estelí, on Sunday 25. Finnaly, the closing event will be held on Tuesday, April 27 in Leon city, specifically in the Jose de la Cruz Mena Municipal Theater.

For this year´s edition, the Con-Trastes Duet (Cuba-Costa Rica), the Armando Morales Barillas Guitar Orchestra, the MP3 trio, the GATMA guitar quartet (Panama) and Ramón Lozano will be performing with their respective repertoire. For further details go to our Events Calendar.
