National Surf Circuit 2010 in Leon

The first of three competitions that will be held this year in Nicaragua, as part of the National Surf Circuit, will take place at Las Peñitas Beach, located in the department of Leon, 15 minutes away from the city of the same name. On Saturday, May 12 and Sunday 13, more than 100 national and foreigner competitors will enjoy, along with attendees, a great number of recreational activities and a Reggae concert.

Javier Baldovinos, president of the circuit, explained during a press conference given to the national media, that all interested people can participate in four categories: Open (adults), Juniors (under 18 years old), Longboard and Femenine. The registration fee will be C$50 and can be made at Aloy´s Surf Shop (San Juan del Sur, Rivas), Coco Surf School (Las Peñitas, Leon) and The Surf Sanctuary Hotel (Tola Beach, Rivas).

Furthermore, Baldovinos said that there will be a concert by Los Gregory between 8:00 and 9:00 pm. On the following day, the competition will continue and the awards ceremony will be held by the end of the afternoon. The majority of the prizes will be surf clothing and other accessories from sponsoring companies.

The next competition will be held on July 10 and 11 in Playa Santana, located in Tola, in the department of Rivas. Finally, the last competition will take place at Maderas Beach, located 20 minutes away from the town of San Juan del Sur, in the same department.
