Third International Tourism Fair

The students from the Tourism School of the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI), located in the city of Managua, will celebrate tomorrow, June 24, the third International Tourism Fair. The traditional dances, food and drinks from Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay and Nicaragua will be presented to visitors, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, in different stands that will be located in the Hilda and Armando Guido Auditorium of this university.

According to Cecilia Paredes, Director of the Faculty of Tourism of UPOLI, the ambassadors of the five countries mentioned above, in addition to the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR), the National Chamber of Tourism of Nicaragua (CANATUR), the Nicaraguan Chamber of the Small and Medium Tourism Business (CANTUR) and students from schools and universities of Managua, will participate in the event.

Paredes explained that this year, the work from Nicaraguan artisans will be promoted directly. "We use to do it, but through intermediaries," she stated. In this occasion, artisans from the Solentiname archipelago will be part of the fair and they will sell art pieces made of wood for boats.

In addition to the cultural topic, the environmental theme will also be promoted. There will be a group of students that will keep the auditorium clean and another group will be giving small plants for every visitor.

The motto of this years fair, which entrance is for free, will be "Abiertos al futuro, al mundo y al progreso" (Opened to the future, the world and the progress). Tour operators and hotels from the deparments of Leon, Granada, the Atlantic Coast, Masaya, Chinandega and Rio San Juan will give tourist packages with affordable prices.
