The first edition of the new beauty pageant called "Nuestra Belleza Nicaragua 2010" will have its final night on Sunday, August 29, in Managua. For this contest, nine candidates from different cities of the country will participate and one of them will be sent to Miss Earth, which will take place in Vietnam.
Alexander Montiel, director of the pageant, explained during a press conference that organizers want to promote the cultural and environmental values of Nicaragua. Therefore, the slogan for this edition is "Water is the beauty of Nicaragua...let's preserve it." The gala night and the training of the candidates will highlight the importance of our water resources, stated the artistic director, Cristian Chavarria.
The current candidates were chosen through a casting in which hundreds of aspirants were part of, according to what organizers explained. Eighteen to twenty three year old young ladies from the cities of Managua, Leon, Ocotoal and San Rafael del Sur are part of this pageant.
The election of Nuestra Belleza Nicaragua will have its final ceremony starting at 7:00 pm, in Multicentro Las Americas shopping mall, located in Managua. The contestants will have a runway show wearing swimsuits and night gowns, and will be interviewed by a select jury of personalities from the world of fashion and arts.
The winner will represent Nicaragua during the upcoming Miss Earth, which will be held in Vietnam in late November. She will also get a scholarship to study and other prizes given by sponsors. For further details of the pageant and the candidates, visit the following website.
