"Destinos con sabor" goes to Matagalpa

Eight Two or more forks restaurants will be receiving more funding to improve their services.

Yesterday Thursday June 7th the show "Destination with flavor" was launched in the “Lomas de San Thomas” hotel in the city of Matagalpa. This program is made by the “Instituto Nicaragüense de Turismo –INTUR-” (Nicaraguan Tourism Board), and eight restaurants from that department in the north of the country that meet the quality requirement of two forks or more will be benefited.

The show “Destinos con Sabor” (Destinations with Flavor) consist of providing financing plans to restaurateurs from around the country, besides giving them manuals to improve the quality, hygiene and service of their business. To be part of the show the restaurants should be visited and evaluated by a commission headed by international chef Nelson Porta.

Initially the financing plans ranging were from US2, 000 and US20, 000, but according to INTUR these plans are being reviewed with CARUNA, cooperative in charge of granting loans to every restaurateur. In the case of the department of Matagalpa there were eight beneficted.

Among those selected are local restaurants with the seafood specialty like Pescamar or restaurants of typical meals as the local "El Gallo Pinto", renowned for its special dish "The Metro". According to Eddy Khül, owner of Hotel and Restaurant “Selva Negra” (Black Forest), this project is an opportunity for promoting the cuisine of the country and especially of Matagalpa.
