Schedule for possible arrivals in La Flor beach 2012

There are 3 turtle arrivals already reported this season, and 4 more are expected this year.
The third massive arrival of the olive ridley turtles in the Wildlife Refuge Playa La Flor (Rivas) would be concluded today, after starting last August 14th with more than 4000 females turtles reported. Another 4 more arrivals are still on hold, expected to happen during the rest of the season which ends in January, down here we present a schedule provided by experts from the Ministerio del Ambiente y los Recursos Naturales MARENA- (Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources).
The advent consists in the arrivals of thousands of sea turtles from Ridley species, which move along the beach searching for a point to open a hole and lay their eggs. The season takes place between July and January, and although the act is not completely predictable, it is known that it depends on the moon phase.
According to Raymundo Membreño, technician from the MARENA, the first arrival of this year occurred in July and the second one earlier this month; approximately 2,000 turtles were observed only during the second one. For this year, they expect between 50,000 and 60,000 turtles in total, said the technician..
La Flor beach is a nature sanctuary in Nicaragua. It is located in the department of Rivas, south of San Juan del Sur. Next to the Chacocente Reserve it is a place where there are major mass arrivals from the Pacific of Nicaragua.
