Lovely place, great view, great beach, great food. I little price - but not expensive.
BUT: the staff are the most fucked up people ever. I never met such rude persons ever - and add that to the fact that they are in the service business. The lied about the prices of their rooms and gave us hell when we refused to pay the extra. When we wnated to order food we got the look "why tha fuck to you disturb me". YOU have to UNBOOK dinner otherwise they will charge you for it. Its hard to me to understand why these people want to live in friendly Nicaragua at all.

Casa Iguana is a unique experience that I am glad I experienced. The place could use a little updating, and fortunately there are new owners who in a few short weeks are already making a difference. They have a very secluded location with a great beach, and the grounds are beautiful. Highly recommended.

Situated on a high cliff at the ocean's edge, on the remote and breezy southeastern shore of Little Corn Island, Casa Iguana offers fourteen private, individual cabins, right on the water. Each has a wide veranda, a hammock and a spectacular view of the ocean.

Despite the remote location of Casa Iguana, there are surprisingly many services and amenities offered, making the hotel a comfortable, cozy place to enjoy this small Caribbean island. The services include a sophisticated solar energy system and wind powered generators that provide electricity to the hotel. Rain water is collected and the hotel has a private well for drinking water. Biodegradable soap is provided. Laundry service is available, and Internet is offered a couple hours a day through a satellite connection.

Scuba diving is the most popular activity available as the reefs in front of Casa Iguana are what Fodor Travel Guide calls "the finest snorkeling reefs in the Caribbean" (visit, a PADI Gold Palm certified dive shop, for more info). Deep sea fishing is another amenity. Though equipment is not available, windsurfing and kiteboarding can easily be practiced here from December - April for those that have experience and their own gear.

In its Restaurant, Casa Iguana also serves a great breakfast and fresh dinner, using many vegetables from their own garden, prepared by a professional chef, recently graduated from the CIA in New York City. The laid back bar is open every night, it serves mojitos and plays renowned classics mixed with some, indie, lounge and island reggae.

There are four "economy" cabañas, nine "deluxe" casitas, and a "grand casita". Deluxe casitas are bigger and have a veranda. They have a double bed and a futon that makes into a double bed. There's a private bath, plenty of glass windows with screens. Shower is outside but private. The "grand casita" is twice the size of the regular casita with a big veranda. It offers a coffee maker, queen size bed, and a solar hot water heater.

The hotel is one of the few places on the islands where credit cards are accepted. Even more unique is the acceptance of personal checks on U.S. bank accounts. Furthermore, Iguana guests can buy e-tickets for La Costeña directly from Casa Iguana, without additional charges. The hotel also offers attractive packages that include scuba diving.

  • Deluxe Casita and Gran Casita can lodge up to four people.
  • Visit Casa Iguana's website for more information and detailed prices.
  • Extra person: US$10 per night.
