My husband and I went to celebrate our wedding aniversary, and we were planning to stay just for one night at Villa Paraiso and then go to a different hotel, but this hotel was wonderful and we decided to stay two more nights. The staff was very friendly and the food was GREAT. We loved this place and we highly recommended.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights this September. We knew ahead of time the the island was going to be somewhate primitive but were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Villa Paraiso. Jose Antonio resevered Cabina #22 for us which was great. It had a perfect view and was more than comfortable. This is by no means any kind of a luxury resort but that's not what you come here for. Jose Antonio was very helpful making arrangements for us and made us feel welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an adventure off the beaten path but wants to feel safe, secure and well taken care of.

I have just got back from Nicaragua, amazing country, im 24 and i was so impressed by the place, amazing food, wonderful people, Jose at the hotel, great guy, really helpful, and Betty the puppy dog, gorgeous.

Clean spacious rooms with a beach seconds from your room, no doubt one of the best if not THE best hotel on the island.

I strongly advise you venture there

My husband and I have just returned from Nicaragua. We stayed at Villa Paraiso on Ometepe 3 nights. We were pleased with the hotel.
We enjoyed the vegetation of the garden; our room was clean and spacious. There is easy access to the beach even though the water was choppy due to the wind which howled the 3 days we were there. Carina at the bar was attentive; she also served us at the restaurant at times. Food was good, specially the fish dishes; we also enjoyed the salads and breakfast.
My only disappointment was that I asked for a 6 am wake-up knock at the door twice and both times it was not done ( it is a good thing that I have an internal clock!)
We would definitely recommend the hotel.

I stayed at the hotel for just one night.

    Food: Excellent

Room: Average, remember is an island in Nicaragua

Tour: My wife and I made horseback riding to Ojo de agua, awesome, I do recommend.

I just got back from Hotel Villa paradise and had a wonderful time, it was a worth trip... The plants and tree are beautiful and there are many opportunity to hike and enjoy. The rooms are very spacious and very clean .We found most of the staff very friendly specially Antonio .We were very impressed with him since my Spanish is bad  . If you don’t speak Spanish don’t worry because he ist a the front desk and speak fluent German and English. We took a tour with him and found out that he also spoke German; I was so happy and felt much more comfortable to speak German with him , he has great skeels at languages. I strongly recommend this informative tour. The food was great specially having in at the open air restaurant with lake view. Thank you so much for making us feel like family.

    AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL experience!!!!
The receptionists were very polite, and no scams!
After fifteen minutes (hadn't even seen the beach) we decided to stay another night. Then we had dinner! Typical Nica salad, fresh and tasty, but the fish... I'm moving in!
The birds at the restaraunt were quite entertaining, but the perpetual dogs have to go!
We never had a bad meal, weren't bothered too much by the flies, slept very comfortably, thoroughly enjoyed the beach and water.
A beautiful place to visit and escape the madness of Managua ( and all other large cities!)
Were I one to be published, I would recommend this hotel very highly.
I thank the staff for an outstanding job!

We stayed in this hotel only due to the fact that we arrived onto ometepe late in the evening and hostels were entirely booked. i found most staff and who appears to be the owner? fairly abrupt and rude. I encountered only one front desk young man to have fair costumer service skills. My review is not positive. Initially i think we were somewhat ´conned´with the ´we only have the expensive cabins left´when it was obvious that the hostels were had no vacancy. we ended up paying much more than others were getting EXACTLY the same cabins for. WE only entended to stay 2 nights. at our second night we requested a cheaper room, but was told there were not any, but to find out later, that upstairs contained several economical rooms (the hostels were still full)...so again with the high rate room. Our so called wonderful cabin, leaked all night, and our backpacks became soaked, my husband also contracted food poisoning from the ? meat at the restaurant. We had only eaten there in the previous 30hrs, so was def from there. We could not leave the island, as my husband was so unwell, so i began to walk around santa domingo once again for another affordable room, when the staff saw me do this, ´miraculously´a cheaper room came on offer at $24/night. The next morning, a group of us were eager to leave, so payed up and took off...only to notice on the boat coming away from omotepe that EXTRAS ON MY BILL FOR SEVERAL MEALS WE DID NOT EAT!!!! (should have been more thorough with my bill, but b/c we were so eager to just get out of that horrid hotel....we were in a rush ...SO CHECK YOUR RECIEPTS!!!!!

We really loved to stay in this beautiful hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable and so close to the beach ! The staff is very friendly and polite but most of all the prices are so inexpensive.

The restaurant is located in a way that you can see the beach while you are enjoying your food.

I was born in Nicaragaua but I have been living in Miami, Florida since 1983. This was my first time in Isla de Ometepe.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to enjoy my homecountry !!!

We are already planning to come back next year !!

    See you next year.

Just what we were looking for, and more. We left feeling incredibly relaxed. We stayed longer than expected because the cabin and the food were perfect. Thank you for making our stay on Omotepe so memorable.

Too beautiful of a place, rooms are fantastic and they certainly hook you up with all meals. Also Carlos is funny as hell and is always able to provide what is needed.

  • Kristin Van Cauteren wrote on Nov 24, 2006:

We had a lovely cabine with view to the lake and there was nothing to complain about. The terrace was perfect to relax with a cold beer. The restaurant served good meals, prices are more expensive. Also the staff was friendly and helpfull but speaks only spanish. They organise also several trips on the island.
Result : "you get what you pay for" in this lovely hotel.

This is really a great place to relax and enjoy! We had a horrible experience at a hotel next to this great place. At Hotel Villa Paraiso the food was excellent, the staff was friendly and the owner a very nice lady. This was a defiinetly go again.
The views are gorgeous, the rooms are confortable with nice beds, electrical plugs...the normal!! This is definetly one of the best hotel places Nicaragua has to offer.

8 friends and myself stayed here in March 2006. I could not have asked for a nicer, friendlier place to stay. Spent time on the beach , riding horses on the beach, ate at the restaurant there and was quite satisfied with the meals and the service each time. Planning another trip there in August 2006 and will definitely stay here again. Thanks Anjelica.

We had a group stay in Feb '06 - 6 cabins, so I can't speak for the rooms in the lodge. The cabins were very comfortable and clean and we had no bugs if we kept the door closed. There were no mosquitoes at this time, maybe because of the strong winds 24/7.
We thought the food was very good, although I agree the vegetable dishes were not the best, except for the salad which was excellent. The fish and shrimp dishes were excellent and we enjoyed breakfast very much.
We drank mainly beer and wine and they were quite good and inexpensive. All the staff were friendly and helpful and eager to please.
We actually celebrated my daughter's marriage there and we were very pleased with all food and arrangements for that event.
The only drawbacks of the hotel were the lack of hot water, but I understand that will be changing soon, and the very bumpy road, which is the only access route to the hotel.
