Description
Derek's place is an ecological hotel, located in the Northeast side of Little Corn Island, situated in the Caribbean. The turquoise see-through waters and the tranquility of the area are the main attractions of this destination.
The establishment has five comfortable cabins, decorated and built with natural materials. The electricity of the place is produced by solar panels and windmills. There's also a dining room, bonfire area, bathrooms with water and hammocks to relax.
Another attractive element is the food, which is different from the rest of the hotels. Pastas, meat, chicken, sea food and curries are cooked in a wood oven with olive oil or 100% natural coconut oil. Fresh bread, fruit salads and natural juices are also part of the menu.
In order to get to Derek's place, guests have to take a trail and safely walk through the jungle for 20 minutes. Another option is to arrange water transportation with the hotel's staff.
Note:
- The hotel does not have telephone number.
- Reservations can also be made through Paypal.
- You can use the kitchen for a $10 additional cost to your room fee.

Place is great, looks like on the picture and a paradise beach (the Derek's one is only great) is in a walking distance. But there is a hotel being built...
There are some features which make be neutral, funny or some kind of disadvantage for you:
- no showers - owners are saying they want to save water but this is 21th century and can me made in a different way than they do (making your bath almost impossible)
- they don't care where are they, means they don't know about the weather cast, animals - so don't except and ask them about the island
- they make secrets, they won't show you how they prepare the ecological (maybe not?) soap etc
but check it yourself!:)

I spent a night with my family, 5 adults during Semana Santa 2012. A nice experience. Anna and Derek treat you like their own family. It is a real place to forget about the stress of your everyday routine. I recommend to bring a nice book, enjoy diving lessons, walk around or swim in pristine dark blue waters.
