San Juan de Limay

San Juan de Limay is known for its Pre-Columbian ruins of Spanish influence and its heavy marble sculptures. The capitol of the municipality is located on the slopes of the Tipiscayán mountain. The traditional festivities are held from June 15th to 30th, although the most important day is the 25th, since there is a procession of the image of 'San Juan Bautista' with all his devotees.

Getting There

San Juan de Limay is situated 82 kilometers from Managua and 44 from Estelí. When traveling from Estelí to Condega on the Pan American Highway, you will find a joint called 'La Sirena'. Once there, you have to take a dirt road to this municipality. This city can also be reached from Somoto (Madriz), Chinandega, Achuapa (León) and Somotillo (Chinandega), but the roads do not have the best conditions.
