Peñas Blancas is the southern boundary of the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve. This is a walk in the jungle, with adventurous trails, giant trees, abundant water, impressive landscapes and all the magic of the tropical cloud forest, ideal for hikers and nature lovers.
Day 1: The amazing Arcoiris waterfall
After driving for 2 hours to the nature reserve, we will start a three hour hike through thick vegetation where you can enjoy abundant water sources, the charming sanctuary of the giant trees and the impressive waterfall Arcoiris with its more than 90 meters high.

Day 2: The most adventurer trail of Nicaragua
Early in the morning after enjoying a delicious typical Nicaraguan breakfast we prepare for an intense and very difficult hike to the top of the reserve. We will walk for 5 – 6 hours, in the core area, where the virgin forest offers an incredible variety of flora and fauna and is the home of the Resplendent Quetzal and giant tree ferns.
After lunch we return to Matagalpa where the tour ends.

The Macizo Peñas Blancas is the southern border of the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve and the largest rainforest in central America. This is a package for intense hiking and pure nature lovers. This package consist in trekking through the virgin forest, steep trails and camping in the middle of the thick vegetation. The end of the tour is to relax in a charming mountain hotel with a naural and family atmosphere.
Itinerary
1 day After traveling to the reserve, there will be a walk for about 3 hours to get to know the lovely sanctuary of the giant trees and the impressive Arcoiris Waterfall with its height of more than 60 meters.
Accommodation: Guardianes del Bosque Hostel.
2 day After breakfast with an intense 5 hour hike to the top and center of the reserve where the camps will be assemble, in order to live an unforgettable experience in the jungle surrounded by virgin forest and an incredible variety of typical flora and fauna of the cloud forest.
3 day Back to the community. After lunch starts the journey to La Sombra Ecolodge, a mountain hotel full of tranquility and nature, where you can get to know one of the largest butterfly gradens in Nicaragua.

4 day Different activities included, which are offered by the La Sombra Ecolodge. After lunch starts the return to Matagalpa.

2 day Getaway to Peñas Blancas, one of the most important cloud forests of the country, There will be activities such as walking through a lovely forest trail with abundant water sources, giant trees and a very special waterfall. Afterwards, the next stop is in La Bastilla Ecolodge, a hotel located at the foot of the Datanlí Reserve with an impressive view of the forest, with the singing of hundreds of birds and a delightful climate.

3 day Visit to the Aguas del Arenal Hotel, a small hotel located in the El Arenal Natural Reserve, surrounded by the San Fernando river, coffee plantations, citrus fruits, flowers and vegetables; a paradise that we cannot ignore.

4 day In the morning, starts the walk in search of exotic birds. After lunch, begins the return to Matagalpa where the tour.
