    This package is available all year round

    The journey begins in cooperative office as meeting point (1/2 a block North from Cathedral), where we take a private vehicle directly to the rural area of León and reach the foothills of the Telica Volcano. Once at the volcano, the ascent to the summit begins. At the top you will visit the Bats Cave and find an amazing sunset and an incredible view of the Volcanic Range.

    At nightfall, we will enjoy the sunset light. After that we will appreciate the glint of the lava from the crater of the Telica Volcano.

    After the lava sighting we will return to the Camping area to take a delicious sank and enjoy a great panoramic view. And then we will return to the drop off in Leon city.

  • Hiking the Telica Volcano from Leon

    This tour start at 2 PM in your lodging place or any meeting point in the Leon city area, or Poneloya and Las Peñitas beaches. The private transport will take us to the country side. After a while, we will leave the vehicle and we will start the hiking that last about 45 minutes, to the Telica’s top. There, a spectacular sunset will impress us. We will have there a beautiful view on the Los Maribios volcanoes chain, and other stunning places. By nightfall, we will observe the small lava lake inside the crater.

  • Telica volcano tekking by Cristo Rey

    Description

    This is the less demanding trekking to the Telica volcano. Departure from Leon city in a 4WD vehicle at 2 PM, to Cristo Rey location.

    Cristo Rey is the higher point to start the trekking. From here, It will take 1 hour approximately to reach the top, in a low difficulty walk. On the top you will enjoy the sunset time and beautiful landscape. Depending on the weather, you could probably appreciate the glowing inside the crater. After the returning walk to the vehicle, we will arrive in Leon city around 8:30 PM.

    Tour length: from 6 to 7 hours.
    Difficulty: Easy.

    Recommendations
    You will need a flashlight, as the down hill is during night time. Bring 2 litres of water per person, sunscreen, hat and a long sleeved shirt. If you want a snack food, you can bring some sandwiches, fruit or cookies.

    This is a full day tour which mix two volcano experience in the Leon area: a volcano boarding in Cerro Negro, follow by the Telica volcano trekking where to appreciate a stunning sunset.

    The first tour start early in the morning (7 AM). You will be picked up in your lodging place or any meeting point within the Leon city area, or the Poneloya or Las Peñitas beaches. From there, we will travel in a off-road vehicle or a mini bus (depending on the participants number) to the Cerro Negro volcano visitors center (around 40 minutes). After registering our visit, we will take back our transport to go until the place where the hiking start. We will walk from there for about 40 minutes to the volcano’s top, where you will enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding (the volcanoes, the city, the country side). Once on the top, the guide will offer information for a safe descent. And then! The adventure will take place, going dawn the hill on a board. This tour take around 4 hours.

    The transport will take us back to Leon, and the guide will get you to your lodging, so you could take luch and recover some forces. At 2 PM, you will be picked up again to start the Telica volcano experience.

  • Five Day Volcano Circuit

    Description

    Day 1:
    Tourist will be picked up at the stipulated meeting point in León or Managua to later take the minibus and go toward the Cosigüina Volcano. The ascent to the summit will begin. Once at the top, the Lagoon, the Fonseca Gulf and even territory from Honduras and El Salvador can be seen. To end the first day, the tour will continue to the base of the San Cristóbal Volcano, where you will sleep.

    Day 2:
    At 6 AM, the ascent to the San Cristóbal Volcano begins. This is an active volcano and is the highest (1745 masl) in Nicaragua. This is one of the most difficult volcanoes to climb.

    After the descent, the trip to the Telica Volcano begins. You will camp at the volcano crater. At night, if you are lucky, you will be able to see the lava. During the day, the San Cristóbal Volcano can be observed, as well as panoramic views of the volcanic range.

    Day 3:
    In the morning yow will climb down the volcano to later continue toward the San Jacinto village, where hot springs connected to the volcano can be appreciated. Lunch at San Jacinto. Transfer to the Cerro Negro Volcano. Camping in the volcano.

    Day 4:
    After having breakfast, the walk toward Pilas-El Hoyo starts. This is a volcanic complex, formed by many structures, including the Asososca Lagoon. Camping at Asosoca Lagoon.

    Day 5:
    Transfer to the Mombacho Volcano in Granada, to visit its cloud forest. Return to have a barbecue and be transfered to the 'drop off' spot.

    -Bring hiking shoes, mountain boots, repellent, sunscreen, medicine (if needed), comfortable clothes for camping, sweater, pants and hat.
