    Description

    Pick up will be at the hotel of the client to later go in a truck to the Visitors Center and proceed with the check in. After the check in, you will travel 1 km toward the volcano foothills. The climbing to the volcano can take 25 minutes. During the ascent, panoramic views to other volcanoes and Nature Reserve can be appreciated.

    Once at the top, instructions are given to descent by foot or sand boards. The equipment is set up once you decide which option you will choose.

    Return to the Interpretation Center, where you can relax, use the bathroom and buy beverages or souvenirs. Tour tour ends at this spot. Return to the drop off point.

    Departure from Leon city at 8:30 AM (previous picking up), arriving in Cerro Negro near 9:00 AM. Hiking to the summit (easy level) for an hour. Then, you can come down doing volcano-boarding or running down. You will be back in Leon city at 12:30 PM.

    To bring water, bring a kerchief to protect your mouth during the downhill, wear a hut and comfortable cloth, and use sunscreen.

  • Cerro Negro Volcano Boarding from Las PeƱitas Beach and Leon

    We will meet in your very hotel in Las Peñitas Beach or Leon city. From there, we will get the Cerro Negro Volcano reserve by a rural road (35 minutes), in a air conditioned truck (4x4). We will stop at the reserve entrance, to be listed in the visitors book at the Visitors Center. Next, the truck will get us right next to the volcano. Here we will hike to the top, from where we will sandboarding using individual equipment. After the descent, we will stop some minutes at the Visitors Center to use the toilets or get a cold drink.   • Cerro Negro volcano boarding plus Mangrove tour

    This tour include two activities in the nature: an aquatic tour among the mangrove forest in Juan Venado Island reserve, and a volcano boarding tour in Cerro Negro volcano. You can choose the order according to your preferences.

    In Juan Venado Island we will tour in a boat among the mangrove forest, where you will see several types of local or migratory birds, lizards, crabs and maybe, with a low tide, some small crocodiles in the water shore. After 2 hours, we will visit in the island a local project, where you can enjoy a swimming in the Pacific Ocean waters. This tour takes around 3 hours.

    It takes around an hour to get to the Cerro Negro volcano from Las Peñitas, and we will go in a micro-bus or 4WD air-conditioned truck. You will experience the volcano trekking and then the volcano boarding here. You will find gorgeous views on the top, as you could see the city and some of the neighboring volcanoes, as the Telica, San Cristobal, and Momotombo.

    Lunch is not included in this tour, however, you can ask for a stop in a restaurant, in order to have lunch in the middle of the full experience.

  • Volcano boarding in Cerro Negro plus sunset from Telica volcano summit

    This is a full day tour which mix two volcano experience in the Leon area: a volcano boarding in Cerro Negro, follow by the Telica volcano trekking where to appreciate a stunning sunset.

    The first tour start early in the morning (7 AM). You will be picked up in your lodging place or any meeting point within the Leon city area, or the Poneloya or Las Peñitas beaches. From there, we will travel in a off-road vehicle or a mini bus (depending on the participants number) to the Cerro Negro volcano visitors center (around 40 minutes). After registering our visit, we will take back our transport to go until the place where the hiking start. We will walk from there for about 40 minutes to the volcano’s top, where you will enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding (the volcanoes, the city, the country side). Once on the top, the guide will offer information for a safe descent. And then! The adventure will take place, going dawn the hill on a board. This tour take around 4 hours.

    The transport will take us back to Leon, and the guide will get you to your lodging, so you could take luch and recover some forces. At 2 PM, you will be picked up again to start the Telica volcano experience.

    The transport will take us to the country side. After a while, we will leave the vehicle and we will start the hiking that last about 45 minutes, to the Telica’s top. There, a spectacular sunset will impress us. We will have there a beautiful view on the Los Maribios volcanoes chain, and other stunning places. By nightfall, we will observe the small lava lake inside the crater.

    This adventure will be ended enjoying a Toña beer or tropical fruits, after what we will start the way back to our transport, in the volcano’s bottom. The transport will take us back to your lodging or any point in Leon city, Poneloya or Las Peñitas. We will back at around 8:30 PM or 9 PM.

  • Five Day Volcano Circuit

    Day 1:
    Tourist will be picked up at the stipulated meeting point in León or Managua to later take the minibus and go toward the Cosigüina Volcano. The ascent to the summit will begin. Once at the top, the Lagoon, the Fonseca Gulf and even territory from Honduras and El Salvador can be seen. To end the first day, the tour will continue to the base of the San Cristóbal Volcano, where you will sleep.

    Day 2:
    At 6 AM, the ascent to the San Cristóbal Volcano begins. This is an active volcano and is the highest (1745 masl) in Nicaragua. This is one of the most difficult volcanoes to climb.

    After the descent, the trip to the Telica Volcano begins. You will camp at the volcano crater. At night, if you are lucky, you will be able to see the lava. During the day, the San Cristóbal Volcano can be observed, as well as panoramic views of the volcanic range.

    Day 3:
    In the morning yow will climb down the volcano to later continue toward the San Jacinto village, where hot springs connected to the volcano can be appreciated. Lunch at San Jacinto. Transfer to the Cerro Negro Volcano. Camping in the volcano.

    Day 4:
    After having breakfast, the walk toward Pilas-El Hoyo starts. This is a volcanic complex, formed by many structures, including the Asososca Lagoon. Camping at Asosoca Lagoon.

    Day 5:
    Transfer to the Mombacho Volcano in Granada, to visit its cloud forest. Return to have a barbecue and be transfered to the 'drop off' spot.

    -Bring hiking shoes, mountain boots, repellent, sunscreen, medicine (if needed), comfortable clothes for camping, sweater, pants and hat.
