Bills and legs reddish. Mostly reddish brown with sides of head and upper neck gray and wash of gray on lower chest; breast and belly black; wings show broad white band across coverts (visible at rest and very prominent in flight). Immature is duller and more grayish brown but already shows adult's pattern; bill and legs dusky.
Habits and Behavior
This species perches readily in trees, especially on dead branches. Usually in small groups. Has loud high semi-whistled calls, varying in speed and quality, giving mostly in flight. Often kept in captivity around farmyards and pools.
