Long flat bill, broadening at tip into the unmistakable 'spoonbill'. Adult has featherless head and white neck; otherwise mostly pink, wing-coverts red; tail buffy orange. Immature has head largely feathered, is more whitish, becoming pinker with age.
Habits and Behavior
Usually seen in small flocks. Forages by swinging bill from side to side in shallow water and mud.
