Bare blue ocular area. Mostly pale grayish brown with black spot on ear-coverts and slight purplish gloss on neck, grayer on lower underparts; large white patch on wing-coverts (visible on perched birds, but especially conspicuous in flight); basically square (not pointed) tail mostly gray with black subterminal band and large white corners (conspicuous in flight).
Habits and Behavior
Their mournful cooing calls are variably phrased, one being who hoó hoó-ah (Wetmore), sometimes paraphrased as whoo-cooks-for-you.
