Description

A few years ago, the coastline of the municipality of Villa Carlos Fonseca (former Villa El Carmen), had no major tourist attractions despite the great quality of its waves. The development of residential complexes, resorts and golf courts in the area has caught the attention of tourists that are constantly looking to practice sports and unwind in the beaches of the Pacific coast of Nicaragua.

There are two points of great interest where one can practice some surfing. One of them is "Punto San Diego", which is a hollow, fast breaking point over a shallow reef. The other one is the Asuchillo Beach Break, which works with swell, almond-shaped barrels suitable for every type people, from beginners to advance surfers.

Although the peak weaver season is actually between March and November, Playa San Diego benefits from over 250 days of offshore winds created by Lake Nicaragua, giving the waves a great consistency.

As we mentioned before, tourists can also practice some golf when visiting the luxurious resort that was recently built in the municipality. Birdwatching and horseback riding tours can also be organized at Milagro del Mar Resort
