Friendly neighborhood , ruins from huracanes, cleans and Sandy beach, home buildings in progress. It's evident that it's a vacation area and the existent homes are watched by caretaker.

Description

Quizalá beach belongs to the municipality of San Rafael del Sur, Department of Managua, and is located an hour away from the capital city taking the León Viejo highway towards Playa Montelimar. For this reason, it is very visited in vacation time.

This beach has a short sandy stripe in comparison to other nearby beaches as Pochomil or Montelimar. On the other hand, it presents a feasible swell to realize extreme sports such as Surfing and boogie board.

In this beach there are summer houses, however, the visitor can make camping or relax in the sand for the day. In these cases it is advisable to carry food, drinks and items that you will use for your visit. If you want to search for any article in particular, you can go to the nearest store that is 20 minutes by car from the beach.

On the other hand, Quizalá has a natural estuary which lies in a zone known as Los Cajones. In this area the surrounding population meets for the holiday season and make use of small infrastructure located in the place to spend a pleasant time. However, these activities have caused pollution to the estuary, therefore it is not advisable to use it.

Getting There

The best way to get here is with your own vehicle; There is a choice of public transportation, but it is very scarce. Here the references.

With your own car, the shortest way to reach is to drive by the León Viejo highway, and take the paved road that goes to the beaches (there are signs with the names of the beaches, Montelimar, Pochomil and Masachapa). Follow this paved road for 27 km, until you reach the entrance of a rural road on the right hand side, where there is a sign that says "Costa Azul". You take that dirt road, which continues for about 2 and a half kilometers, until you look at a turnoff to the left (the main road continues up to the following beaches). Up to this detour the road is passable in any vehicle. You can continue a few meters in a straight line until you reach the houses, which are located in front of the beach.
