Description

The Conservatory of Music UPOLI presents the opera "Dido and Aenas" by Henry Purcell.

It is based on a story of love drawn from the Book IV of Virgil's Aeneid, about the legendary Queen of Carthage, Dido, and the Trojan refugee Aeneas. When Aeneas and his men shipwrecked in Carthage, he and the queen fall in love. But due to Dido's envy, the witches conspire and make the hero believes he must leave and that his fate is refound Troy. Dido laments herself because she can not live without his love, however, when Aeneas decides to stay, she rejects him, and left to die.
