CCEN: summer night cinema in the terrace

Free screening of Spanish productions on Jan 16 and 25, with English subtitles.

The terrace inside the Spanish Cultural Center in Nicaragua (CCEN) will be open to the public on Tuesday Jan 16 and Thursday Jan 25, and offer a film proposal starting at 7 PM. The first day will be screening Shorts from Spain, a collection of outstanding Spanish short films. The second day will be screening Arrugas, an animated film. All presentations will have English subtitles.

Entrance to the screening will be free on both date, however, the terrace just have room for up to 150 people. The terrace is on the back of the CCEN building, which is in residencial Las Colinas (7 blocks Est from the first entrance to Las Colinas in Carretera a Masaya). There will not be bar service, but visitors can take in snacks and drinks, according to the center communication office asked by ViaNica.com.

Short from Spain is collection organized by the Instituto de la Cinematografía y las Artes Audiovisuales de España (Spain film and audiovisual art institute), including 10 short film, highlighted because of its artistic quality, originality, creativity and participation on international festivals, as pointed out for the offical press release about the summer cinema. The screening this day (Jan 16) will last around 2 hours.

Arrugas (2011) is an animated film directed by Ignacio Ferreas, based on the graphic novel of the same name by author Paco Roca. The plot is about two old men in an nursing home trying to avoid the second floor, where the people requiring assistance is placed. The screening this day (Jan 25) will last 90 minutes.

The summer cinema will finish after the second date, but more cinema proposal will come during the year, according to the CCEN communication office in contact with this reporter.
