Carnival of Masaya in September

The carnival starts at 3:00 PM in the southern part of the city, exactly at Lomas de Sandino, at the Barrio Monimbó. It will continue straight to the north through the Avenida Real Monimbó, passing the centarl park, and continuing through the Avenida San Jerónimo until it finishes in font of a church with the same name, where judges will crown the best float of the parade.
Furthermore, there will be winners from the carnival from Managua, Jinotepe, Juigalpa and Granada, according to the organizers. During the march through the city there will be different presentations of artists. Orlando Blanco, spokesman of the Carnival, said that Miss Nicaragua, Xiomara Blandino, will be present too.
The carnival takes place during the 168th anniversary of the founding of the city of Masaya, founded on September 2 in 1839.
Food and Handcraft Fair
Besides the Carnival, there will also be a Food and Handcraft Fair this weekend, organized by the Chamber of Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Companies (CANTUR), where there will be products made of leather, cloth, wood, clay, and other materials, as well as food, folkloric clothing, and more.
The fair opens at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, and Sunday, September 2, and will take place at the following address: costado Oeste de la iglesia San Jerónimo, una cuadra hacia el norte.
