International meeting of singers/songwriters

Three Nicaraguan composers, and three others , one from Cuba, Costa Rica and from Honduras, participate in the First International Meeting of Singers/Songwriters - Nicaragua 2007, which will acquaint people with the creating works of these artists, who will give joint concerts in Managua, Masaya and Granada.The composers are Katia Cardenal, Elsa Basil and Clara Grün from Nicaragua, María Pretiz from Costa Rica, Karla Lara from Honduras and Liuba María Hevia from Cuba. “That which starts today is merely the beginning of what we hope will be a new era for Central American and Caribbean music with a female voice", declared Katia Cardenal.
The event was jointly organized by Sello Disquero MOKA Discos, el Centro Cultural and Restaurant Ruta Maya. Waleska Rocha, head of public relations of the Disquero said that after this year, the idea is to organize such get-together on a yearly basis, hopefully attracting more singers and songwriters from Central America, the Caribbean, and the rest of the world.
The concerts took place in Managua today, Thursday 21 November in Ruta Maya, on Friday 23 in el Convento San Francisco de Granada and on Saturday 24 on the Mercado de Artesanías de Masaya. To find out more about the specific events, please refer to the mentioned days on the Events Calender.
