Performance by Mercedes Sosa in Nicaragua

During a press conference today, the famous Argentinean singer Mercedes Sosa was announced to give a unique performance in the Rubén Darío National Theater on February 27, 2008.

According to the announcement, the singer will play songs from her new album “Mi Historia”, including classics such as “Gracias a la Vida”, “Alfonsina y el Mar”, “Duerme Negrito”, “Si se calla el Cantor”, and more. The performance will take place in the Sala Mayor, and tickets will run between U$30 and U$55, depending on the seat.

The visit to Nicaragua will be part of her last tour through Latin America, as was explained during the press conference. Sosa has visited the Rubén Darío National Theater four times during her career; the last visit took place in the year 2000.

Mercedes Sosa is one of the best-known Latin American singers known in the region and in Europe. With her deep voice, she can interpret different genres of Latin American songs, and her interpretation of classic songs are considered admirable for the high vocal quality. Sosa was born in Tucumán, Argentina, on July 9, 1935.
