Third Earth Festival

The Earth Festival, a national event organized by the cultural center Ruta Maya and tied to the International Earth Week, will be inaugurated tomorrow, Tuesday, April 22 (International Earth Day). The festival will end on Saturday, and consists of various activities, such as concerts, expositions, documentary projections, and more.This year, Ruta Maya has joined forces with the Rock Nica Ecológico initiative, of which many popular young bands are member. Because of this, concerts with excellent artists will be organized. Participants of the festival are the bands Clara Grün y Electrochinamos, Manet, Q69K, La Cegua, Monroy y Surmenage, as well as Dúo Guardabarranco, Moisés Gadea, Mario Montenegro and Phillip Montalbán y la Banda Caribe.
The main concerts will take place on Tuesday 22, at the Universidad Centroamericana (3:00 pm) and at Ruta Maya (8:00 pm), and on Thursday 24 in Ruta Maya (8:00 pm). The closing concert will take place on the 26, on the parking lot behind Ruta Maya (8:00 pm). Photography expositions and video projections will also be organized. During the inauguration, Jaime Incer Barquero will give a prologue to the "Feria de la Tierra". Smaller activities will take place throughout the week.
The festival has become an annual project taken on by Ruta Maya, with the aim of uniting their activities with similar festivals organized throughout the world during the International Earth Day.
After the closing of the festival, Rock Nica Ecológico will organize a "Day of Awareness and Cleaning" at the Laguna de Nejapa in Managua, open to anyone interested in participating. Members of the rock bands and participants of this activity will meet at 9:00 am on Sunday 27, at kilometer 8 on the Carretera Sur, in front of the Quesillos Martha restaurant.
