Joy for Life Carnival 2009 in Nicaragua

Cinthia MembreñoThe eighth edition of the "Joy for Life Carnival" 2009 will be held on Saturday, April 25. The show will start on Jean Paul Genie roundabout, at 4:00 pm, and will conclude at Metrocentro roundabout, at 5:00 pm. The spectacle will include the traditional parade of coaches and the appearance of the carnival's queen, Nicaraguan 22 year old Indira Rojas.
Adelayde Rivas, from the Public Relations Department of the organization, said that this event will only have 90 coaches, each of them with more than 100 members. "We had more than 150 coaches before but they have merged to speed up the parade," she explained.
According to Rivas, the spectacle will have the support of different universities of Managua and the presence of Latin American ambassadors from Honduras, Panama, Peru, Guatemala and the US.
She also explained that the carnival has been gaining popularity among the Nicaraguan and foreigner public because it represents a tourist attraction. "According to information given by the Nicaraguan Tourism Institute (INTUR) a lot of foreigners relate their visit to the event."
