The eighth edition of the French Cinema Festival, an event which is held every year throughout Central America, will start in Nicaragua next Thursday, May 28, at 2:10 pm, at Cinemas Galerías Santo Domingo, with the screening of the film "Je m'apelle Elisabeth" (My name is Elisabeth), by the director Jean-Pierre Améris. Carolina Celedón , Culture Coordinator of the French Alliance in Managua, explained that this year's festival contemplates the screening of five movies, with which it is intended to present a new cinematographic option to the public, different from what is usually brought to the country.

According to Celedón, this activity aims to project the French cinema and its creativity, that is, the way that film-makers present daily life situations, their customs, traditions and the unexpected way stories end. The films that will be screened, all with subtitles in Spanish, were produced between 2005 and 2006; the majority of them are comedies or thrillers.

The festival will remain until June 10 and the cost per screening will be C$40. For further information go to our Events Calendar.
