The National Tourism Convention, event that gathers members of major institutions and associations of the Tourism field of Nicaragua, is currently celebrating its seventh edition at the city of Estelí. There will be conferences, expositions and panels with topics of interest to this sector during the event.

The slogan of the convention is "For a socially and environmentally responsible tourism". The information about this event was given during a press conference, which was held yesterday, August 26, at the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR), in Managua.

Leonardo Torres, president of the Nicaraguan Micro, Small and Medium Tourism Businesses (CANTUR) and expositor of the conferences, explained that they chose the department of Estelí as headquarters of the event because they wanted to highlight the importance of an alternative tourism. "Not only the sun and the beach are tourism in Nicaragua", he said.

The convention is being held at Centro Recreativo Las Segovias, located in front of the South side of the central park of the city. Conferences, panels and expositions based on topics like rural tourism, general law of tourism, environment and its problems, historic and cultural heritage, among others, will be given on August 28 and 29.

On Friday 28, starting at 9:00 pm, a Cultural Fair will take place in front of the convention's headquarters. Visitors will have the chance to observe an exposition and taste regional traditional food, buy handicrafts and other products.
