Cinthia MembreñoThe colonial city of Granada will be the headquarters of the first International Street Arts Festival "Berrinche Ambiental", which starts today Thursday, January 28. The event will be the occasion to enjoy the theatrical, musical, poetic and dance performances that were prepared by more than 100 national and international artists.
Diego Gené, Director of the Comedy and Mime School, one of the organizers of the festival, explained that the idea of preparing an event like this arose from the awareness of the success of the International Poetry Festival of Granada. "We have been organizing this since last May, when we participated in the Mesoamerican Art Netword," he stated. Gené also assured that the objective of the festival is to give a theatrical and artistic dynamic to the city of Granada, in addition to work for a clean environment.
According to the web page of the festival, the event is divided in two phases. The first one started on Tuesday, January 26, with an internal encounter of the local and international artists. On the other hand, the second phase is constituted by all the free activities taking place mostly at the central park and Casa de los 3 Mundos.
Argentinean, Costa Rican, Guatemalan and Nicaraguan groups will perform with their theater, dance and musical presentations. In addition, an exhibition of sculptures made of recycled materials will be placed at the central park of Granada. Furthermore, an environmental forum will be held at Casa de los 3 Mundos and a parade will tour the main streets of the city. Finally, the Nicaraguan band "La Cuneta Son Machín" will give a closure concert, at 7:30 pm on January 30, at the central park.
