Cinthia MembreñoSalvador Cardenal Barquero, renowned Nicaraguan singer and painter, died yesterday, March 8, at Alejandro Dávila Bolaños Military Hospital, located in the city of Managua, according to information provided by the local media.
Cardenal, who was also a member of the famous "Duo Guardabarranco" along with his sister Katia, suffered from Cryoglobulinemia, a disease that produces damage and inflammation of the blood vessels of the body. According to the local media, the singer was admitted to the hospital on February 24 and had a delicate health condition during his stay.
During the previous months of his death, a great number of close friends, fans and artists - national and foreigners - gave their public support to a variety of activities that were held to benefit the singer, who had the hope to get a bone marrow and kidney transplant.
