Luis Enrique Mejía, the new tourism ambassador of Nicaragua

The Nicaraguan singer, Luis Enrique Mejía, artistically known as "The prince of Salsa", became Nicaragua´s new tourism ambassador on Wednesday, March 10, during a press conference held at Hilton Princess Hotel, in Managua. During the event, a cooperation agreement was singed between the National Chamber of Tourism (CANATUR) and the singer, who is currently visiting the country as part of his tour in Central and South America.

Lucy Valenti, President of CANATUR, said that one of the biggest challenges of the institution is to change the negative image the country has internationally. "Alliances like this one were are making with Luis Enrique become important to have short period results in this effort of promoting Nicaragua as an emerging destination," she pointed out.

According to Valenti, the role of the singer will be to mention Nicaragua in every artistic and cultural activity. Furthermore, CANATUR and Mejía will make a spot that will be televised internationally. The objective of it is to show that the country not only has tourist destinations but also friendly people.

On the other hand, Luis Enrique said during his speech that he was very excited by becoming an ambassador. "I am here tonight with a commitment and will accomplish this mission with my hearth and best will," he stated.
