Bike tours against climate change in Nicaragua

Nicaraguans and foreigners will be able to participate in the first of four bike tours that environmental groups like Fondo Natura and the Club of Young Environmentalists will held with the support of the Nicaraguan Cycling Federation and MTB Trails Cycling Group. Under the motto "Pedaling against climate change", the first tour will start at 7:00 am on Saturday, May 22, at Jean Paul Genie roundabout, located in Managua, and will end in the city of Nindiri, in the department of Masaya.

According to Marcelo Gutiérrez, member of the organizing committee, every person that feels related to the environmental cause, has good health conditions and own a bike can participate. "The event is for free, participants will only have to go to the roundabout at 7:00 am", he explained.

In addition to the tour, there is going to be a press conference at the central park of the city of Nindiri, at 8:00 am, in order to give more details on the future tours around the country. According to information provided by Gutiérrez, the second tour will be held at Ometepe island, from June 4th to 6th; the third one will start from the Honduran border to the Costa Rican one. And finally, the fourth one will go through the Pacific coast, from November 5th to 7th.

Gutiérrez also explained that right after the press conference, at 9:30 am, there will also be cultural performances by local groups. Dance, music, theater and presentations about conservation of corals and tree planting will be part of the program of activities.
