The turtle season has started! Yesterday night the first group of the August arrival came to the La Flor beach, located 22 kilometers from San Juan del Sur, Rivas. This massive turtle arrival is expected to last two to three more nights. Visitors interested in this interesting natural phenomenon can visit the La Flor beach, and the Cocibolca Foundation (managing the reserve) reports that the road is currently in fair condition as little rain has fallen.Last month the first turtles of this season already arrived, but this arribada was rather small compared to the one that is going on right now. The number of turtles arriving at the beach will continue to increase in the coming months, before slowly declining until the end of the season in January.
An approximate calendar is posted on our website (see the La Flor page), and we recommend people interested in the arrivals to check the latest news or contact the Cocibolca Foundation for the most current news.
