Eight international documentaries will be screened for free during two weeks in Nicaragua.
The cities of Managua, Leon and Granada will become the cultural headquarters of the festival "Ambulante: Gira de Documentales 2011", from November 16 to December 1. Eight international documentaries will be screened in different establishments and a series of meetings in which the public will be able to interact with filmmakers, cultural managers and characters of some films, are also scheduled for this event.
According to Eliett Cabezas, Head of Programming of the Cultural Center of Spain in Nicaragua (CCEN), these eight films represent the broad range of productions that made the cut for "Ambulante", a festival that visits 12 Mexican states, showing documentaries from around the world. This year, "Ambulante" has had the opportunity to visit Central America, specifically El Salvador and Nicaragua.
"The films use the realities of diverse places of the planet as their main material. The films also celebrate the visions of those who want to share their concerns, dreams, stories and frustrations," said Cabezas on a release given to the national media.
It is worth mentioning that all the screenings will be for free. The official opening event will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at the Cultural Center of Spain in Nicaragua (Managua / 7:00 pm).
In addition to the screenings, the event will also feature parallel activities. One of them will be the conference that Ricardo Giraldo, director of the festival, and Everardo Gonzalez, director of the documentary "El cielo abierto" will give in the three cities mentioned above. There will be another conference with Giraldo and Elisa Gilli, cultural manager with experience in coordinating festivals. Furthermore, documentary film workshop and a conference with Lucy Acevedo, Secretary of the Committee of Relatives of Missing Migrants Facella and El Salvador, are also part of the activities.
The festival "Ambulante" will visit Nicaragua as part of the first anniversary of CCEN. The presentations that will be held in Managua will include transportation (both ways) to central areas of the city.
