Desafio 5K will be held in Managua

One, five and ten-kilomter races, in addition to a modality for athetles in weelchairs, will be part of this sports event.
The sixth edition of the Desafio 5K will be held tomorrow, December 18, at 6:00 am, in the city of Managua. This time, the sports event will include - in addition to the classic five-kilometer competition - the third edition of 1K Challenge, the first 10K Challenge and the special participation of athletes in wheelchairs.
So far, organizers reported more than 160 participants who have signed up fot the competition. This process has been made through online registrations on ViaNica.com, at institutions that promote the event or by contacting members of Managua Runners. Registrations will be available until today, December 17.
According to the event´s site, each of the races will begin and end at the same starting point. The 5 and 10 Km competitions will begin at 6:00 am at Galerías Santo Domingo (Km 8 Carretera a Masaya) and the 1 Km race will start at 7:30 am. The registration fee will be C$100 for the first two competitions and C$50 for the last one. Organizers will provide police protection and medical attention.
It is worth mentioning that the funds collected with this event will be donated to Hogar San Antonio, a home for elderly people located in the department of Masaya. The innitiative is promoted by the Nicaraguan NGO called “Sumando Voluntades”.
