The September arribada (massive turtle arrival) has started at the La Flor beach. This arrival started last Friday (September 15, 2006) and it is expected to last until the end of this week.In the last three nights, a total of 14,500 turtles has visited the beach to lay their eggs. People interested in observing this fascinating natural phenomenon will have superb chances of seeing turtles in the coming days. Be sure to visit the reserve, located 22 kilometers south of San Juan del Sur, to see hundreds if not thousands of turtles come to the beach in a single night. The road is in fair condition and the water level of the river that crosses the road is low enough to pass with a high-clearance vehicle.
