The play will be presented outdoors in the cathedral of León and in the Ruben Dario National Theater.
The classical opera entitled "Cavalleria Rusticana", a one act melodrama that will be performed by Italian, Cuban and Nicaraguan artists, will be presented for the first time in Nicaragua in the cities of Leon and Managua on February 11 and 15, respectively.
While it is the first time that this opera visits the country, it is the second time that the Pucciniano Festival brings a show of this kind to Nicaragua, an effort that - according to Ramon Rodriguez, director of the Ruben Dario National Theater - has been accomplished thanks to a partnership between the Ruben Dario National Theater, the Nicaraguan government, the Italian Embassy and other sponsors.
"In a country where opera shows are still being discovered, bringing a show like this one represents a major step. This play is one of the most renowned of the field, " said the director of the National Theater in a press conference given yesterday, February 6 in Managua, during which Franco Moretti, director of Festival Puccini Fundazione, Valerio Galli, music director of the play, Daniele D 'Plano, stage director, among others, also attended.
According to what organizers stated, the first performance of "Cavalleria Rusticana" will be held in the atrium of the Cathedral of Leon. This, said Rodriguez, was established to homage the designation of the building as a World Heritage Site, as well as for having the natural conditions for the staging of the show, which also takes place in a public square with a church.
In Managua, the one-hour show will take place in the Ruben Dario National Theater. This, however, will be preceded by a 45-minute opera recital with the participation of renowned artists such as Elisa Picado and Mario Rocha. For both concerts, the audience not only will enjoy musical performances, but also will see a luxury wardrobe made in Italy, specially for the show.
Both presentations will be held at 7:00 pm. The first of them will not have an entrance be, but the one held in Managua will have the following costs:
Both the musical and stage director will practice, along with all the artists, the repertoire of the opera during the next few days. Daniel D' Plano, who has been in the country for two weeks now, said to be very pleased by the enthusiasm shown by national artists, even kids. "The Pucciniano Festival has given me the opportunity to work in Nicaragua and bring a representation of Italian culture to this country," he said.
