Third Edition SonNica Festival

It will be a tribute to the Nicaraguan songwriter Otto de la Rocha, by 13 national artists.
Several Nicaraguan artists come together to make the "SonNica" festival, this Saturday July 28th on the third floor of the parking of the mall Metrocentro (Managua). The event was announced today by press conference, in which it was said it will be in tribute to the singer and radial actor Otto de la Rocha, in which each participating artist will perform a song from this musician.
Otto de la Rocha, born in Jinotega, has a 64 year artistic career, time during which he has made a significant contribution to Nicaraguan music with songs like “La Pelo de Maíz” (The Corn Hair), “El Jornalero" (The Journeyman), “Una Canción" (One Song), “Palomita Guasiruca”, (Guasiruca little bird), “Soledad” (Solitude), among others. Moreover, he is also an actor and radio producer, creator of Aniceto Prieto listed in the program Lencho Catarrán, produced by him, and which is known by several generations of Nicaraguans.
The festival consists of 13 Nicaraguan artists, including soloists and bands which will perform a song by Otto de la Rocha, imposing the self-musical style of the person who interprets it.The participians will be Katia Cardenal, The “Cuneta Son Machín”, “PerroZompopo”, “Cultura Folk” (Folk Culture), Norma Helena Gadea, DJ Revuelta Sonora, Carlos Mejía Godoy, Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy, Philip Montalbán,Ecos, Mario Sacasa, Momotombo and “Malos hábitos” (Bad Habits).
It is the third time the SonNica festival takes place. The first one was in 2010, when they paid tribute to the singer-songwriter Carlos Mejía Godoy, and the second one in 2011, to the “Dúo Guardabarranco” (Guardabarranco Duo). The event is being conducted by the mobile phone company Telefónica Movistar.
During the conference, the singer-songwriter Carlos Mejía Godoy said "I get mouthwatering easy when talking of the so fruitful career of Otto de la Rocha", he also announced that has a surprise for the musician, but that he will make it known until the day of the event. Norma Helena Gadea mentioned she met Otto since she was a child and that she was instilled in her the habit of calling him "Uncle Otto". Meanwhile, the young singer Mario Sacasa of Nicaragua said he grew up listening to the music of this musician which is a unique reference of the “Nicaraguan Sound” (rhythm guitar).
The entrance to the event will be by purchasing a recharge of C$30 of balance of Movistar minutes, which will have to be bought at the box office of the event on the third floor of the parking lot of the mall Metrocentro (Managua, in frony of the roundabout Rubén Darío). The doors will be open from 12:00 noon, and the event will begin at 2:00 pm.
The DJ Revuelta Sonora announced that he has prepared a fairy of Lencho Catarrán in its electronic version, which has already been recorded and he is now working on it to give that gift to Otto de la Rocha. At the end of the conference Otto mentioned that "since the 13 years old I wanted to be a musician and since that age I'm making war on the subject, and I am happy to do a tribute to my acting career." He also said that at his age he has reached all his goals, but that he is still singing and performing on the radio.
