Celebration of World Tourism Day in Nicaragua

The celebration's main event will be held in San Juan River.

The World Tourism Day will be celebrated this Thursday, September 27th. The public and private authorities in Nicaragua related to the industry, will hold as the main event a truism congress in the city of San Carlos, in the San Juan River. Moreover, the various delegations of the Nicaraguan Tourism Board (INTUR) of the country are preparing activities to celebrate in each of their localities.

This was announced during a press conference in Managua and in which information of the current tourism performance was exposed as well as a donation of equipment to local tour operators of the North and South Caribbean of the country.

"Tourism and Sustainable Energy: Powering Sustainable Development”, is the celebration's motto this year, proposed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). During the National Tourism Congress to be held in San Carlos on Friday and Saturday, the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Nicaragua will be present to accompany the touristic delegations that will converse about the progress son the tourist activity in the country.

The vice-president of INTUR, Mayra Salinas, shared positive statistics during the conference. The institution, up until the Month of August of this year, posted revenue of 790,464 tourists, representing an increase of 11.5% compared to last year. The goal, said She, is to reach 1 million 25 thousand tourists as we wrap up 2012, and 1.2 million in 2013.

During the event, the Director of Tourism for the Caribbean Coast INTUR, Anasha Campbell, proceeded to deliver equipment to the representatives of the 6 Caribbean local tour operators in order to improve their ability to work. Laptops, printers, desks, first aid kit, fishing poles, binoculars and other devices were delivered to local businesses, according to the needs of each revealed by a previous study.
