Each winner of the 17 regions of the country will participate with the elaboration of traditional dishes in the national final.
For the fourth year in a row, many traditional Easter season dishes prepared by cooks and chefs from different regions of Nicaragua, will compete to determine the ultimate “meals lent” winner. This event is organized by the Nicaraguan Tourism Board (INTUR) and will be held at 2 PM on Sunday March 24, at the Salvador Allende Port, in Managua.
The runner ups are going to present a significant number of traditional Easter Season recipes: arroz aguado, cheese soup, seafood soup, almíbares and nacatamal fish. These finalists have won regional competitions organized in 15 departments and the 2 Caribbean Autonomous Region and each one received cash prizes.
The event seeks to promote Nicaraguan traditions and family driven activities through cultural presentations with national artists and exihibition of the finalists dishes. The competition will be evaluated by a jury composed by the chefs Nelson Porta, María Esther López, Silvio Arévalo, among others. After the final decision, people can have a testing of the dishes.
As well as years before, the jury evaluates the dish according to the aroma of Easter Season, flavor and presentation. For this year's competition, professional chefs and last year's winners are not allow to participate, explained José David Barrera, part of the Press office of INTUR.
Besides of the gifts given by the sponsors, this year's prizes are:
First place: C$30,000 (thirty thousand córdobas)
Second Place: C$20,000 (twenty thousand córdobas)
Third Place: C$10,000 (ten thousand córdobas)
