Cuban cultural Day celebrated in Nicaragua

Chachachá, boleros y traditional dances from Cuba will be presented at the National Theatre.

The Cuban people will celebrate in Nicaragua the Cuban Culture Day, from October 23rd to the 25th, as part of the activities there is a music concert at the Ruben Dario’s Main Hall on October 23rd, at 7:30 PM. Also, as part of this celebration there will be several activities taking place: a concert in the city of Leon, and Cuban food festival at Holiday Inn Hotel, said at a press conference the Director of the National Theatre, Ramon Rodriguez and the Cuba ambassador, Eduardo Martínez.

Rodriguez, also the Director of Camerata Bach, said he was motivated to celebrate the Cuban culture in our country, a celebration that Camerata Bach has been doing for more than seven years consecutively, he said. At the press conference it was announced that the musical director of the show to be held on October 23rd will be the recognized Cuban musician Roberto Garcia, known as Robertico, winning a few months ago at the International Jazz Festival held in Russia , Rodriguez said.

For the concert on October 23rd will have the presence of the Cuban bolero singer and Raquel Hernández and Santiago Garcia. The event has a repertoire of almost all genres of Cuban music, such as the cha-cha, bolero, and traditional dance rueda casino, which will be danced by 8 cuban volunteers currently living in Nicaragua. In addition, Rodriguez said that they are already working with the Great Lyric Theater of Havana on the presentation of the play La Gran Zarzuela, this as part of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of foundation of the National Theatre.

The Cuban ambassador invited all the nicaraguan people to participate at this great celebration, which is already a tradition in Nicaragua. Also, he emphasized on the close relation that Cuba and Nicaragua has in the social and education field. He also added that the celebration was born on October 20th, when the Cuban anthem was sung for the first time, a fact linked to the Revolutionary War and the Cuban nationality

The activities and important dates for this event are:

  • October 23rd, Rubén Darío National Theatre, at 7:30 pm, Concerto with Camerata Bach and cuban artists.
  • October 24th, Auditorium Ruiz Ayesta at León, Cuban music concert.
  • October 25th, Holiday Inn Hotel, closing with Cuban food festival and concert with national artists.
