2014 Fortnight of La Francophonie

The francophone community in Nicaragua organizes and invites all of you to celebrate francophone art and culture.

This March 14th begins the fortnight of francophonie, filled with cultural exchange activities in order to celebrate the traditional day of the french speaker held on March 20, and open up a space for all to get in touch with French language.

This season will open on March 14 with a Francophone Caribbean night and will continue with performances like the uncle of jazz Luxembourg Reis Demuth Wilthen trio at the Ruben Dario National Theatre and the play "a volcano on Paris", until the festival closes on 29 March with a Francophone cuisine Fair. Among other activities that will take place is a Round Table on March 20 based on "Francophonie and Sustainable Tourism: An opportunity for Nicaragua", where ViaNica will participate .

According to Julien Bouchard, representative of the French Embassy, French is the only language alongside English that it is spoken in the 5 continents with over 200 million speakers; 17 million speakers in Latin America and is the third language used in Social Networks, after English and German. However, this celebration "is not only for French, as our partners are Nicaraguan institutions such as the Ruben Dario National Theater" added Bouchard, opening the invitation to all interested in learning more about the French culture.

Celebration will be taking place on different parts of Nicaragua with cultural and linguistic pedagogical activities sponsored by Claro Nicaragua and with the support of the Embassy in Nicaragua, the Embassy the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Nicaragua, the Swiss Embassy, the Swiss Cooperation in Central America, the Canadian Embassy in Nicaragua, the Alliance Francaise in Managua, altogether with organizations and schools as the Liceo Franco-Nicaraguan Victor Hugo, UNITE - Managua and the Association of Teachers of French, and others.
