MTB Challenge II edition Datanli-El Diablo

This March 23 cyclists are once challenged by northern nature.
Cyclists from different countries will challenge towering mountains, waterfalls, farms and the lake of Jinotega in the second edition of MTB challenge Datanlí-El Diablo, this March 23.
Categories are:
• Elite: 80 km, for competitive expert cyclists.
• Open: 80 km for women and men cyclists wishing to compete.
• Master A: 80 km, participants from 30 to 39 years.
• Master B: 80 km, participants from 40 to 49.
• Master C: 50km, participants over 50 years.
• Female: 50 km for women cyclists.
• Cycle Tourists: 50 km, non competitive cyclists.
The last 3 categories depart from Empalme Corinto Finca and the others from Jinotega central park at 7:00 am. The overall winner of the 80 km will receive a prize of US$1000.
This year, the challenge is organized by the National Chamber of Tourism of Nicaragua (CANATUR) Apanás Tours Jinotega and ViaNica. Felipe Zeas, Director of Apanás Tours Jinotega explained that last years first challenge was made with the support of international cooperation. "From that planted seed on the passed year, collaboration is only now by Nicaraguans and Jinotega residents tha are daring to organize this event," added Zeas.
Invitation is open to all interested people on going and visiting Datanlí-El Diablo Natural Reserve or to just be a competition spectator. "This is not just a mountain biking competition, it is nature opening its doors to us for a combination between sport and national tourism," said Roger Solorzano Gaitan president of ViaNica.com .
Competition Details
Felipe Zeas of Apanas Tour, said that the route will maintain a distance of 79.6 kilometers of which 90% are rustic roads right on the banks of Apanás Lake, forests and waterfalls of Datanlí-El Diablo Natural Reserve, including coffee farms, rural communities and breathtaking mountain scenery.
Julio Alvarado, Competition Manager explained that the competition is cross-country marathon style and added that slopes roam around the 1650 meters. There will be the support of motorized safety, Firemans, Police and Red Cross officers. In addition, 5 checkpoints of Jinotega volunteers that will be offering hydration and assistance.
They recommend arriving since Saturday March 22 to meet the technical specifications and specify the category in which each attendee will be competing. Pasta Dinner and the welcome reunion will be held in Buffet Soda El Tico at 7:00 pm on Saturday.
How to participate
Registrations are US$25 and are available online here or directly at the office of Apanás Tour in Jinotega, Matagalpa Tour, CANATUR office in Managua and Rider Pro Shop.
