Guests can ride bicycles, horses or explore the area by foot. The San Ramón Waterfall, the Congo Beach beach, Santo Domingo beach, the forest of the Maderas Volcano and its cold crater lagoon are some of the destinations that are near the hotel. Also, tourists can kayak the Istián River with its many birds, butterflies, and caymans.

After a day of activities, guests can relax in a hammock while enjoying not only a cold beer and some typical Nicaraguan food or an international plate, offered in the bar/restaurant of the hotel. This service is available from 6 AM to 9 PM.

Lee Gubala: We spent 4 days in late June & loved it. Jamie & Roxanne are great hosts, their kids are fun, the food in the restaurant is very good, and the wine prices are very reasonable. Sitting on the porch of the Cabana in the evening, sipping rum, looking at the lake & watching birds was relaxing. What a contrast to the bustle in Grenada the night before.

WARNING: Do not believe the young man at the hotel who tells you that the trip to the waterfall is just a "short walk". Ten minutes by car on a bad road, 45 minutes by horse, & then a strenuous hike. But, it was worth it. Ah, to be as young as him again.

Jonathan: La Omaja made my trip to Ometepe Island, Nicaragua really worth the visit! Jamie's assistance with tour guides and transportation made traveling for myself much easier than ever. From the refreshing outdoor pool to the morning view of Volcano Conception, the hotel really made my trip so much more gratifying. I highly suggest La Omaja to be the place to stay if your planning to take a visit to the Island, the benefits alone make this place and the Island a chance of a lifetime in paradise!

Ben: From start to finish this was a great place to stay. Jaime and Roxanna and everyone else at la Omaja were very helpful around the hotel as well as in helping us to get around Merida and Maderas and to fit in as many adventures as possible. The room (1 for 3 people) was great with a stunning view of the volcano from the private terrace and the food was very good and everything was very reasonably priced. This was one of the quietest and most relaxing spots I came across in Nica. I was only there for 2 days this time, but would definitely go back for a longer stay.

Mona: We spent a few days the first week of December on the island at La Omaja, what a wonderful retreat, beautiful and serene. Jamie and his family are awesome hosts which made our stay with them even more enjoyable. Their resort is clean, very well maintained, their staff is wonderful and the food is great too. There was lots to do on the island so if you're planning on visiting make sure you book with La Omaja!
