Description

Finca Magdalena is located North of the Maderas Volcano. This is a productive farm, administered by an agricultural cooperative, where coffee and organic vegetables are grown. As part of the service offered to the visitors, the farm has a comfy and well known lodge.

The farm was built in 1888 and its location is high enough to offer amazing panoramic views. At Finca Magdalena, guide services can be hired to visit petroglyphs, the cloud forest, the lagoon at Maderas Volcano or simply to climb the Concepción Volcano or other points of the island.

At Finca Magdalena the peasant production activity can be appreciated and visitors can also accommodate in hammocks, tents, shared dorms, private rooms or cabins, all equipped with fan, musketeers, private or shared baths and furnitures to place personal items. Reviews

M.T. Matthews: My son, niece and I stayed there overnight before hiking Maderas Volcano in March 2007. A very pleasant place, with a great view of Lake Nicaragua and Concepcion Volcano. Even though it was a Thursday night, there were lots of people there, but they found a place to put up cots for us that night. The food was very good. Save your empty water bottles, they refill them with filtered water for very cheap. They secured a guide for the hike up Maderas. Be warned: the trail up Maderas is BAD-- but worth the effort.
