Los Altos de Ocotal Cooperative offers tours and lodging at the highest spot of a mountain, surrounded by a pine forest, near the border between the departments of León and Estelí. From this page you can contact them, or book online a stay or any of the activities offered by them, and listed below.
The Community-based Rural Tourism began 4 year ago and is conformed by 30 families and 800 hectares of land. The initiative started with the visit of young foreign volunteers; nowadays lodging at guesthouses and activities like coffee production, handicrafts and crops are offered. Eventually, more families have joined the project and expect that tourism will be a good contribution to community development.
The cooperative has 7 rooms distributed in the houses of local families, where is also offered a daily menu of the rural area. Private parking is available, however, an all terrain van is needed to reach this zone. Laundry service can be requested. As well, guests can climb to the viewpoints and admire the pine forest.
